Actions Speak Louder
The Dallas Festival of Ideas responded quickly to the mass protests and police shootings in Dallas on July 7. We designated our response “Actions Speak Louder” and convened the first in a series of community forums on July 29th. The second forum took place September 17th and the final on October 8th. By partnering with Faith in Texas, ASL is providing a partner to activate citizens to bring change to criminal justice and policing issues through it’s campaign, Live Free DFW.
Our recap of the ASL forums can be found here.
We also want you to be aware of our intended reach in 2016-17 through “Actions Speak Louder,” the progress of which was featured prominently during SVP Dallas’ and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ bigBANG! at Paul Quinn College on October 27th. In addition, “Actions Speak Louder” informs all aspects of the 2017 Dallas Festival of Ideas, including the community Forums between November 2016-March 2017 which will focus on issues of social equity from five different perspectives. The forum schedule is found here.
All of the forums lead up to and culminate in the Dallas Festival of Ideas on April 29th, 2017 in concert with the Dallas Public Library’s Annual Book Festival. Other major events, such as the Dallas Institute’s annual MLK Symposium January 16th, reflect the concerns of “Actions Speak Louder.”
